ROGER EKMAN - ÅNGEST ***BOOKLET ONLY
Roger Ekman and I have worked together to create a booklet taking inspiration from the original insert. It contains previously unused photos from the recording session as well as an interview, which is featured in Swedish and English. The 20 page booklet has been produced in a run of 100 to echo the original album quantity pressed back in 1978.
The idea sparked from when I bought some stock from Mr Ekman as some of the copies were missing their original inserts as well as the stamped printed covers. I felt the insert was a special part of the release and the story that I wanted to recreate in the spirit of the original but different, and perhaps better! Roger and I conferred to see if he still has the original photographs of the recording sessions, and after some back and forth he eventually unearthed some gems and this is the outcome!
Please note that the records are first press (there is no second press) plus the sleeves are the original too that were turned inside out. But I re-created the stamp and hand printed each sleeve and booklet to mimic the original.
One of the rarer Swedish jazzy/funky/latin/folky/prog private presses - ’Ångest’ (Anxiety) came out 1978 in a small edition of only 100. Mostly given away to friends. With a low budget - Roger used existing printed sleeves, turned them inside out and stamped the covers by hand.
The album was recorded live with a group of talented students (some of whom have gone on to have great musical careers) whilst working as a janitor at Adolf Fredriks Musikskola (music school). The running theme is (his) mental health and the frustration of not getting the help he needed from the Swedish health care system.
